A little bit of this and that....

I missed the family ski on Christmas Day as I didn't feel up to it - Him Indoors and Matthew (our youngest) had to go without me. It meant Christmas Dinner had someone to watch over it and so it was all cooked to perfection by the time they came back to eat it! Unfortunately, I couldn't taste anything but I ate some anyway.....

Boxing Day - and skiing seemed more possible. The reports from yesterday had indicated good snow and the weather looked bright and clear. I wouldn't have to do many runs, I could sit in the cafe, and it might cheer me up!

{First skiing photo for the season 2011-12}

It did. My jelly legs managed a couple of runs. But it was cold and that made me cough a bit. The thick Italian hot chocolate on the way home was a good idea.......

Yesterday, the forecast was promising some snow and it was quite windy here. I was beginning to feel that I needed to get out and walk about so we took a quick drive to Embrun. The town was rather empty except for a few very bored animals in the square.

{Some not very photogenic animals standing around}

An equally bored and cold sculptor was hacking a Buddha (I think) out of ice. I did wonder if the block had been much larger in the morning. There seemed a lot of ice chippings on the ground around it. The sculptor was wearing an entire dead fox on his head.......

The Tourist Information building was lit up - just. The photo makes it look welcoming......

Finally we made our way back to the car park. At least as darkness fell, the lights showed up a bit better.
It even seemed more cheerful although still more or less deserted.

Today I am feeling much better. (Thank Goodness, I hear you say........ )

No skiing as it's been snowing all day. The day has been spent counting contours and writing up my TGOC 2012 route. And it's nearly finished...............
