Chlorine clouds at sunset........

Trundling the trolley across the car park at Tesco's yesterday afternoon, just as the sun was setting, some strange rainbow clouds caught my eye.

Today in the local paper there was a similar picture - and a scientific explanation.....

These nacreous clouds are apparently caused by a build up of greenhouse gases in the troposphere, about 50 miles above the earth - more often seen in polar regions.  So although attractive to look at, they're not a good sign!

Global warming anyone...............?
