Into the woods................................

I didn't go skiing today - the sun was barely visible behind a thick white veil - making the light very flat. Of course you CAN ski on days like this but it makes it horribly scary as you can't see the bumps or even if you're moving or standing still.......

But it was the perfect morning to try out my latest aquisition - no not a comfy armchair! You are talking to a confirmed walker here...............

A PAIR OF SNOWSHOES!

I've wanted some for ages - although snow had always been something you SLIDE on to me. Maybe it's my age but the snowshoes seemed to be quite appealing this year. So on Thursday when the x-country skiing turned into a farce as the moment we got to the piste it started snowing heavily, we went to look around the shops.

We found the snowshoes (it wasn't difficult) at a really good price. They are a late Christmas present.

And they're a lovely apple green!

Up behind the house here are some paths through the woods which made a perfect first trip. I enjoyed every minute of it. Tried them with the heel down and the heel up, went through huge drifts and on crunchy crust.

I shall be out again tomorrow.............................
