A dark and sleepless night...........

......thanks to a problem with the electricity supply here.

We found out at lunch time yesterday that the voltage coming into the house was too high - TURN EVERYTHING OFF! they said. Men will come and fix it!

They did come and it is fixed but it took all night. A transformer that was about 50 years old*  (see note below) and in the field opposite the house had to be replaced. So there was much commotion in that field with cranes. trucks and landrovers, lights and beeping noises!

And a special mention goes to the guy who shouted all the time!

Finally the alarms in the house went off at about 5 am and wouldn't turn off without a technician!

Might have a nap this afternoon................

*update - the unit was made in 1934!
