And Corduroy............

Lovely sparkly, winter's day - perfect skiing conditions - no wind - cold snow - need I go on?

Wearing more clothes than last time we managed to complete a good day's skiing today. The little resort we went to was like a private ski slope for us - hardly anyone else there and whole runs with just us two skiing down.

One of the good things about skiing in a quiet village resort is the quality of the pistes. The snow is groomed in the evening and left to get colder overnight. The machine leaves a pattern on the snow which looks like corduroy. As it softens it's wonderful to ski on. In big name resorts that corduroy disappears by about 9.15 leaving the snow chopped up and increasingly difficult.

Today we were still on corduroy at 3.30 this afternoon. Magic!

Fantastic! That looks like absolute bliss.

I've never been skiing. I have no idea how I've managed to miss it, as I've always been sure I'd love it.

Therefore, I'm not sure how it works in these resorts. Do you have to pay to ski down? If so, how does it work? A day pass?

Wow... I hope you keep on getting fantastic weather and days out like that!

You pay to go up - so you can ski down!

Just like normal conditions at Cairngorm I'd say. Only without the rocks etc!

Exactly - only without the rocks, peat-bogs, 3 hour queues, broken down lifts, high winds, stray sheep, 70 mph icy hail in the face, fences, broken toilets, expensive tickets..................(fades into the distance).......
